Después de su regreso musical con el álbum "Take The Crown" hace exactamente un año, el cantautor británico Robbie Williams nos presenta "Swings Both Ways", la secuela de su exitoso "Swing When You're Winning" (2001), el cual cuenta con la producción de su inseparable Guy Chambers, y que a diferencia del primer disco Swing, además de incluír varios artistas invitados, cuenta también con temas inéditos.

El disco inicia con "Shine My Shoes", un modesto corte Jazz seguido del magistral primer single, "Go Gentle", una delicia de corte Adulto Contemporáneo que se asienta a la perfección a la etapa actual del señor Williams. A diferencia de "Swing When You're Winning", este disco cuenta con un mayor repertorio de artistas invitados: su bromance con Olly Murs se hace presente en la fantasticiosa "I Wan'na Be Like You", un corte que bien podría haber sido del soundtrack del "The Great Gatsby" de Luhrmann. Entre una de las tantas sorpresas que se encuentran en este disco, está una versión Jazz de aquel éxito llamado "Supreme", renombrado "Swing Supreme", que sin duda le brinda un toque completamente distinto a la original.

El track que le da nombre al disco, es una divertidísima colaboración con una de sus influencias musicales: Rufus Wainwright, y en donde no sólo los arreglos musicales son dignos de destacar, sino también el doble sentido de la canción, en donde Robbie y Rufus nos afirman que todo mundo "batea de los dos lados". Lily Allen es otra de las invitadas, esto en el clásico "Dream A Little Dream", y por si fuera poco, otro artista dedicado a la música Swing, Michael Bublé, se hace presente en "Soda Pop", mientras que Kelly "FUCKINGLY AMAZING" Clarkson se luce vocalmente en "Little Green Apples" -ni parece que fuera ella la que canta-.

Para cerrar con broche de oro la edición estándar del disco, nada como la divertidísima y brillante "No One Likes A Fat Pop Star" (hasta el título es simplemente FUCKING EPIC AMAZING), una exquisita sátira operística a quienes han criticado los kilitos de más de Williams y que definitivamente saca un par de buenas carcajadas al escucharla por vez primera. Otra divertida canción es "Where There's Muck", la cual se incluye en la edición Deluxe y en donde Williams nos dice amablemente "Kiss my ass".
